Sounds like a complex mission, gaitchs. There are already a few physics engines at the GMC, check them out first. I may be able to make some kind of engine, but not any time soon.

Thank you for your excellent examples. Regarding the tell_story
scripts. Could you PLEASE help me with the pagination. What
happens is, when you hit the up or down arrows, it shows part of
the story on the screen, however, when you hit it again, it
repeats one or two paragraphs of the previous portion on the
next view. Could you tell me how to have it show say 300
characters, and when you hit the up arrow it shows a different
300 characters...say the next 300 in sequence until the last of
the story ? I would appreciate it.

From now on the amount of downloads will be registered, in order to use this for the most popular games list at the homepage.
Remember that the older files are currently a bit underrated as for the amount of downloads.

I'm very sorry, it's my fault. I made a download-script, in order to allow counting the amount of downloads, but apparently it didn't work properly.
The filename was right, but the file wasn't copied.

It shoud work fine now.

The new update is nearly complete. All I have to do is add the feature to show images in the game profiles. I hope you consider the new layout an improvement.

Yes, I haven't abandoned this website, but I haven't been working on it in a while, now. I'm too busy for work. When the project I'm working on is finished, I'll be conducting some mayor modifications to the site.
New examples can always be made on request.

Thanks, I've been thinking of many additions, but even when I think I have the time, it seems to slip away :)
Anyway, this website is up for expansion. I'm sure that in time I can make it look more professional.

I have considered something like that, space is no issue, I have 3GB of space and though I'm using that space for some other sites, I'll probably never need more than 1GB.

I might add a new page from which you can send in your tutorial. Then I will check out the tutorial and decide whether it's OK, if it has to be modified, or whether it isn't already present on my website.

I've got a project for my work which is absorbing a lot of my time, don't expect this addition to be completed as soon as the previous one was :)
If you're anxious to have your tutorial added here, you can send it to submissions@trollsplatterer.be, I'll reply ASAP.

One more suggestion- maybe an option to add their own tutorial? (With your approval, of course)

I know that it'll take up a lot of server space, so you should probably just request a link to a site where they've already uploaded it, and link to that url.

The update is done, thanks for your suggestions and comments. If there's anything else I can do, please let me know.

The layout choice has been added, I'll add the name remember feature soon.

An advantage of using a cookie would be that it's IP-address independant. If the visitor uses a laptop, he'll always get his preferred layout.
Ok, I'll add it to the website soon, I'll also add the username to the cookie, so the visitor doesn't have to retype his name when adding comments.

Thanks for your advice.

It's one cookie with one variable, it shouldn't bother the user too much.
Trollsplatterer
2009-02-04
Indeed, I could add a warning, I might just make it an alert before adding the cookie. I would only create the cookie if the user doesn't choose the default layout.

I don't like kookies, simply because they are stored on the users computer. If I visit websites, I don't like them to do anything but being downloaded and shown. It just feels wrong to create something one someone elses computer. If I check out my cookies, it always bugs me to see the amount of junk in there, created by websites I don't even remember visiting.
I guess one small kookie with only one indicator won't do much harm if I ask the visitor first...

"I could do that, but I don't like to store information on the users computer, so I'd have to add a new table to the database to remember the scheme you(r IP address) selected.
I'll consider this."

You could give the person viewing the site the option to set the layout so that creating the needed cookies wouldn't be mandatory. Just put a little message up top saying that you can change the skin of the website, but cookies need to be enabled to do so.

And, if you don't mind my asking, why do you not like to use cookies? Because some people think that cookies can contain viruses, because some cookies come up as viruses on their Anti-Virus software?

I could make an example about that, if you want to know sooner, send me an e-mail and I'll explain it to you personally.
My e-mail address can be found by pressing my name on the main page.

I could do that, but I don't like to store information on the users computer, so I'd have to add a new table to the database to remember the scheme you(r IP address) selected.
I'll consider this.

The restyle for Traumatized Trolls is finished, I'll ultimately add it to this website too, though I don't plan on posting the source code.
It's available in my profile at the YoYo Games website.

The AI tutorial is still in design, but it has been put aside for several other projects.
- My game "Traumatized Trolls" (used to be "Trollentrauma") is being restyled.
- I'm making a snake-minigame for Alengard.
- Moderation on YoYo Games absorbs time.

I added it to the Running animation example, I assume you were referring to that file? If not, try using that one.
